I am a neuroscientist studying the neural mechanisms of perception and consciousness in humans, as a postdoc at NYU Langone Medical Center. I attempt to understand how the brain integrates information from the outside world to create the richness of our subjective experiences. During my PhD at City University of New York, I researched touch perception and multisensory illusions such as synesthesia. I use converging brain imaging and brain stimulation techniques.
More broadly, I am interested in how scientists make use of imagination and creativity, how science is integrated into our society, and how its practice overlaps with artistic practices. I am fascinated by how science is taught from preschool to universities, and comparing comparing scientific practices across cultures and historical eras. I recently wrote an article for Hii Magazine about creativity in science and music. You can read it here.
